These are some examples of my past work with puppets. I have at various times made puppets of practically all kinds, excluding shadow puppets.

The woods I use include such different kinds as willow for larger puppets (because of weight considerations), coloured woods like walnut, rata, barberry, some others for colour effects, and mostly elder for cheaper glove puppets, with boxwood used for the most elaborate ones.

A true marionette, and three photos of a couple of marionette a planchette. These latter ones are used by buskers. The true marionette is made from maple, walnut, boxwood and black maire.




Puppet 0022

A nightclub puppet. The left hand of the puppetteer goes inside the body and head, the right hand goes out of the right sleeve, becoming the puppet's right hand.
